Ryan Reynolds is making his highly anticipated debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with Deadpool 3, and newly released set photos give fans their first look at the actor in costume. The pictures, shared by The Mirror via DiscussingFilm, reveal Reynolds looking fantastic in the updated suit for the beloved anti-hero.
Interestingly, Reynolds is not wearing the character’s face makeup in the images, highlighting the fact that Deadpool’s powers cannot heal his disfigured face. This suggests that Reynolds may not be showing his face as Wade Wilson during the scene being filmed in a forest setting.
The suit Reynolds wears in Deadpool 3 bears a striking resemblance to the costumes seen in the previous two Deadpool movies produced by Fox. However, there are some subtle differences, such as a black area underneath the neck and fewer straps. Nonetheless, these changes are minor, and the character retains his signature look as he transitions from the Fox universe to the MCU.
Unlike many MCU heroes who earn their iconic suits over time, Deadpool enters the MCU with the same costume he wore in the previous films. Heroes like Captain America and Spider-Man had to wait to get their comic book-accurate suits, but Deadpool’s red and black costume is already his most famous and recognizable. Thus, he doesn’t need a redesign for Deadpool 3, allowing him to maintain his iconic appearance.
Although Deadpool isn’t known for having numerous variant costumes like some other MCU characters, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of suit variations in the future. In Deadpool 2, he sported an X-Men trainee shirt, indicating that Reynolds could experiment with different looks for Wade Wilson in future MCU appearances.
Fans eagerly await Deadpool’s arrival in the MCU, and these set photos offer a glimpse of what’s to come. With Reynolds reprising his role as the Merc with a Mouth, and the inclusion of other familiar characters, Deadpool 3 promises to deliver the irreverent humor and action-packed adventures that fans have come to love.
